The Playstation Network is finally starting to come back up. Playstation will be “phasing in” the online gaming and store functionality over the next few days based on geographic region. Right now you can download the new software update regardless of where you live.
Updated as of May 15 3:04am EST: The Playstation network is restored in Ontario and all of Canada! Confirmed in Waterloo, Toronto and Victoria.
The shaded areas have the service restored so far in the US:
Contrary to the Bloomberg estimate of the May the 31st, it looks like the company is on target to have the Playstation network back up and running by the end of the week. Mr. Seybold, Sr director of Corporate Media, posted today on Sony’s American Playstation blog that he could not give an exact date as to when the network service would be restored. He did say that it would take “at least a few more days” leading us to believe that it will be up within the week.
The playstation network has been down since April 21st with a distributed denial of service attack. There have been a couple guesses to who is responsible for this, there were threats issued by Anonymous after Sony sued George Hotz, (aka geohot). Anonymous has now denied all responsibility for the attacks.
During Activision’s Q1 investor conference call earlier today, Mike Morhaime, the co-founder of Blizzard, announced that a Diablo 3 external beta would be released in the third quarter of 2011. So, if everything goes to plan, we could be playing Diablo 3 as early as July of this year!
There were almost no details revealed about the external beta itself. Considering Blizzard’s past beta releases (most notably Starcraft 2) and the large amount of online functionality Diablo 3 is said to deliver, they’re going to need plenty of testers.

The Purpose of CashBlogged
The purpose of CashBlogged is to help you answer the question, “What’s happening?” in “all the finance, business, career advice and topics” that interest you.
We do this by collecting the headlines of the latest stories from the best sites and blogs that cover finance, business and careers. We then group these stories and sites into categories, so you can be sure you have the most up to date information. Then we display the headlines of the information sources as well as their first paragraph. Our topics run from investing, frugal living, personal finance, banking, venture capital etc.
You can think of CashBlogged as the “business book section” of the web. CashBlogged is a starting point – not the ultimate destination. Ultimately, our goal is to enhance your online reading by displaying stories and resources from sites that you’re already visiting plus helping you discover sites that you didn’t know existed. We help you find that needle in the hay stack.
Why another aggregator?
We were frustrated with traditional RSS readers, with too many sites/blogs the reading experience changes. Missing a few days in google reader meant sometimes hours of scrolling through articles. We needed a quicker and more efficient way to consume the best finance, business and career sites/blogs. So we built CashBlogged.
How do the CashBlogged categories work?
We import the stories of the top finance, business and career websites and blogs and display the headlines of the five to ten most recent stories. When you place your cursor over a headline, we display part of the story so that you can decide if you’d like to read it. To read the story, click on its title. To go to the home page of the site, click on the header titles.
Couldn’t I build my own custom aggregation using a feed reader?
Yes, you could—knock yourself out. While you’re at it, you could pay off your mortgage, bake a pie, floss daily, tune your own car, and ride your bike to work.
How can you add your favorite blog to our list?
Make the suggestion through our submission form.

Quality finance, business and career aggregation from Cashblogged is just the tip of the iceberg, we have lots more planned.

Here’s a shot of Motorola’s ATRIX LABDOCK – we’re big fans. Seeing as this is the first (real) LAPDOCK ever.. I think it’s safe to say there are better ones coming, but we think this is going to be the way of the future (especially considering NVIDEA’s quad-core 1.5 GHz chips hitting the market later this year!
It’s pretty official now! We should get to see some quadcore tablets and smartphones in action later this year. We figure NVIDIA’s tegra 3 won’t be for sale in android devices until early 2012, but the fact that mobile chipset development has accelerated to this point is nothing short of incredible.

Kik messenger just released the latest version of its popular mobile messaging application for the iPhone and android today. It includes some cool new features that we profiled from the beta like picture messaging and group chat, it also features improved social aspects to help find your friends on Kik more accurately, a groups function and it remains lightning fast. In this mornings press release it also mentioned that esteemed VC Fred Wilson would be joining the company’s board of directors.
Kik messenger is an incredibly fast mobile messaging application. It features a read receipt system close to BlackBerry Messanger, but it works across all smart phone platforms.
The addition of Fred Wilson to the board of directors looks great on the firm. Among other notable investments, his company was one of the early investors in Twitter and a shareholder in the popular location based social network foursquare. He possesses key industry insight that will help Kik take its already large user base to the next level.
Kik group chat is almost here. We’ve got a few screen shots of the latest version running on Android. It allows for up to 10 participants in a chat (a serious step ahead of Whatsapp which offers a 5 person maximum in their group chat)
We had no issues with the group chat feature – it worked flawlessly and intuitively.

Kik chat now supports picture messaging (as long as you’ve got the latest beta..) This feature will make it’s way into the next kik update, which should arrive in the next few days – provided apple sticks to their typical (terribly slow) schedule for pushing app updates through.
The first version of these new picture messaging features allows users to take a picture from within a chat. They are able to decide whether they like the picture, or they want a retake, and then they can insert it into their chat – all very seamless.
We don’t have the ability to select pictures we took previously, but I’m sure that feature is coming. Even if it isn’t.. who cares – it’s kind of cool to know that all the pictures you receive were actually taken right then.
Once you send or receive a picture message, you can click it in the conversation to view it full screen
Along with the new picture messaging features come a few new settings for your kik display picture. You will now be able to view the full size display pictures of all your contacts.
